THE BENEFITS OF MEMBERSHIP IN THE I L O INSTITUTE

An Outstanding Peer Group: Join an elite network of visible leaders in corporate innovation, meeting regularly in an atmosphere of trust and collaboration. Innovation leaders gather for three meetings per year, in groups no larger than 20,

 to examine key ideas, tactics and strategies for leading innovation inside large organizations;

 to share information with fellow innovation leaders formally and informally; and

 to set the Institute's research agenda for revealing trends, market dynamics, and the future state of critical markets.

In 2006, our meetings will be joined by Harvard Business School professor and author of The Innovator's Dilemma Clayton Christensen, Nobel-Prize-winning economists Gary Becker, Joseph Stiglitz and James Heckman, Nobel-Prize-winning chemist Kary Mullis, technology guru Esther Dyson, UC Berkeley's Henry Chesbrough (author of Open Innovation), and others.

Full-Time On-Call Research Staff: Each cohort of 25 members will be supported by a full-time staff of three professionals, enabling a mix of research projects and on-call research help-desk services.

Better Decision Making: Deeper knowledge supports wiser spending, sharper discernment between winning projects worth backing and the less worthy, and shorter, more effective innovation cycles.

Vital Knowledge of Best Practices and Critical Trends: At cohort gatherings (called Assemblies) I L O research staff present in-depth research on topics selected and assigned by the cohort. Brief research projects directed by individual members will also be available on an on-call basis for members. The focus of most research will be on best practices, innovation process management, evaluation and development, case-studies, idea generation, and trend forecasting.

Cost–Saving (1): Employ a smaller research staff because you’ll have the I L O research staff on call.

Cost-Saving (2): Spend fewer consulting and outsourcing dollars by helping to shape the I L O Assembly’s research agenda instead of having to bear all the cost of commissioning studies on your own.
